They look similar, but the causes are different.

Gray Background: whole page looks slightly dirty/gray.
Ghosting: a faint copy of text/image repeats lower on the page.

If it’s Gray Background, try these 3 first

  • Set Paper Type = Plain
  • Turn off Toner Saver/Draft (print in Normal)
  • Remove heavy page backgrounds and print again

If it’s Ghosting, try these 3 first

  • Print 5 pages → pause 2 minutes → retest
  • Switch back to Plain Paper (avoid thick/label settings)
  • Reduce heavy coverage pages (solid fills)
