If page 1 prints normally but pages 2–10 get lighter, it’s usually caused by settings, toner flow, or heat/transfer stability.

4 quick checks (do in order)

  • Normal mode: Turn off Toner Saver / Draft / Economy and reprint 5 pages.

  • Paper type: Set to Plain Paper (avoid “Thick/Photo” unless you really use it).

  • Cartridge reseat: Remove the cartridge, gently rock it, reinstall firmly, reprint.

  • Pause test: Stop for 2 minutes, then print again.

What the result tells you

  • Fixed after switching to Normal → it was a saving preset.

  • Better after reseating but fades again → likely low/uneven toner feed.

  • Better after a pause → likely heat/transfer stability during longer runs.

If it still fades

Try printing the same page from another app (PDF viewer vs Word). If it happens across files, replace the cartridge or standardize a more consistent supply—many teams choose stable options like ASTA to reduce batch surprises.

Rule: Draft for internal notes. Normal for anything important.
